BIO AND CONTACT INFO

Jeff Vendsel is an award-winning photojournalist, specializing in creative editorial, corporate and non-profit photography. Following a brief move to Washington, Jeff returned to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he now divides his time between photography and teaching.  Jeff developed his expertise by shooting news, features, portraits, sports, pictorial and multimedia projects during 15 years as a staff photojournalist at the Marin Independent Journal, a daily newspaper serving the northern San Francisco Bay Area.

In addition to his work at the Independent Journal, Jeff’s photographs have also appeared in numerous publications and wire services, including: Associated Press, New York Times, American Lawyer Magazine, Chicago Tribune, F-10 Forum, Legal Times, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Ms. Magazine, Mainstream Magazine, National Press Photographers Magazine, Newsweek, Running Times, Runners World, People, Touchdown Magazine and Photojournalism, The Professionals’ Approach.

An honors graduate with a degree in Journalism from San Francisco State University, Jeff is committed to helping the next generation of visual storytellers. As a lecturer teaching in the Photojournalism sequence at SFSU and the Communication Department at Central Washington University, Jeff has taught photography and communication courses designed for students with a wide range of abilities, including introduction to photojournalism, documentary and photo stories, visual storytelling as well as studio and location lighting.
